Buju Banton found guilty of cocaine charges

Buju Banton has been found guilty on Tuesday of conspiring to set up a cocaine deal in 2009.

After deliberating for 11 hours, a federal jury found Banton, whose real name is Mark Myrie, guilty of three of the four charges he faced.

Banton was found guilty of conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute cocaine, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense and using the wires to facilitate a drug trafficking offense.

He was acquitted of attempted possession with the intent to distribute cocaine.

Banton faces up to 20 years in prison. A sentencing date has not yet been set.
